Rock color studies

In 2020 and 2021, I had collected many rocks, mostly found in parks and beaches of Barcelona, where I lived at the time. Intuitively, I started pairing them with my closest colored paper samples. It was a surprisingly satisfying exercise that somehow elevated and magnified the beauty of these little rocks. Rocks which would otherwise be easily disregarded as plain and uninteresting. It also allowed me to create a palette characteristic of Barcelona.

On a short trip to Iceland, I followed a similar process. I gathered a few rocks and linked them with darker tones of grey and red, a visibly different palette and mood that Barcelona’s.
