The Apartment

Experimentation and documentation of a living space in constant change. We moved into this Brooklyn apartment in early 2022. We initially sublet the space and lived with the tenants furniture and possessions. In the summer 2022, we started afresh, with the bare minimum. This place renewed an appreciation for ornamentation, good raw materials and imperfection, now rarely found in newer spaces. Slowly, I started using it as an exploration of what makes a home warm, freedom-inspiring and personally beautiful.

“Imagine going to live on a mountaintop by yourself, forever. You build a home that no one will ever visit. Still, you invest the time and effort to shape the space in which you’ll spend your days.

The wood, the plates, the pillows—all magnificent. Curated to your taste.

This is the essence of great art. We make it for no other purpose than creating our version of the beautiful.” Rick Rubin
