Rock moods

As I kept exploring color, I wanted to move on from the screen and the two-dimensionality of paper to something three-dimensional I could hold in my hand. I was attracted to the natural, irregular beauty of rocks and started to paint and varnish them. I wanted to keep exploring color relationships as well as how light, shadow and shine affect color and mood.

A softer, diffused light was used for darker and medium backgrounds, and created a quieter mood. A stronger, direct light recalling sunlight gave a more joyful and summery effect to the lighter hues.
